.....a city that knows how to celebrate our nation's birthday.

Once again this year Pleasant Hill will be the place to be on July Fourth for a fun and exciting day of festivities. The planning for July 4, 2008 is now well underway. In 2007 it seemed as though the whole Pleasant Hill community turned out for the festivities, and we were all treated to a sensational day. Every year our goal is to outdo the previous year, and this tradition continues. Our goal this year is to surpass all previous years and provide our community with the best ever fun-filled day of celebration.

The July 4th events are brought to you by the PLEASANT HILL FOURTH OF JULY COMMISSION, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to presenting a full day of activities to help residents of Pleasant Hill celebrate America's independence, its birthday, and its grandest holiday. For 2008 the Commission is pleased to present the community with another July 4th to remember.

How can you be a part of the excitement? It's easy - just scroll down to see how you can plan your entire day right here in your neighborhood with all these activities.

1 - Firecracker 5K Fun Run! Start the day off with our early morning 'Firecracker 5K Fun Run'. There's a place for everyone in the family in our lineup. A 100 yard dash for the little ones, plus a 5K run for the bigger folk. Check out This Link for all the details.

2 - The Parade! What would a Fourth of July celebration be without a great parade? We have one of the greatest right here in Pleasant Hill. This hugely popular event travels right through the downtown area with floats, bands, marching units, with plenty of noise and music and excitement. Join your neighbors along the parade route and enjoy this outstanding event. Check out the Parade Info Link for all the details.

3 - Fun at the Park! Here is where it gets even more enjoyable and exciting. Immediately after the parade the fun begins at Pleasant Hill Park. Games, food, live musical entertainment, climbing wall, races, contests, educational displays, and many events to keep kids and grown-ups entertained for hours. Check out the Park link for more details. Admission is free.

4 - Fireworks! And this is fireworks with a capital 'F'. The Pleasant Hill fireworks show is a dazzling spectacular that brings 'em back for more every year. This show continues to grow in both size and popularity, and is becoming the biggest crowd-pleaser in the county. Don't miss it - because on July 5 all your neighbors will be talking about it. Check out the fireworks link at the top of this page for details. Admission is free.
