PARADE PARTICIPANTS

Welcome to parade registration. We are pleased you have chosen to be a part of this great parade, and we look forward to having your entry in the line-up.

(Please note that the parade registration process requires that Javascript be enabled in your browser.)

Before proceeding with registration of your entry, please review the information on this page and share it with everyone in your group that needs to know. It contains important info regarding organization of the parade into divisions, check-in procedures on the morning of the 4th, and general information that you will need to know.

All parade entries must be decorated. Music accompaniment to your entry is a plus and is encouraged (we define just about any form of noise as 'music').

There are 4 divisions in the parade. Each division has approximately 20 entries. You will be assigned a division number and an entry number by the Parade Chairman. You can find your division number and entry number by clicking on the PARADE LINE-UP button at the top of this page. Note however that the division and entry numbers are not assigned until a week or two prior to the parade. So please return to this website in late June to learn your position in the parade. At that time please make a note of your division number and your entry number. This will facilitate a smooth check-in and assembly on the morning of the parade.

Our parade begins promptly at 9:00 in the morning. To achieve this timely step-off, we line up all the entries into the proper order in the assembly area prior to the parade start. This ensures a smooth and prompt start-up. To assist us in organizing the entrants in the correct order, please arrive at the check-in station during the following time slot:

Division 1: 07:30 - 07:50
Division 2: 07:50 - 08:10
Division 3: 08:10 - 08:30
Division 4: 08:30 - 08:45

Directions to the Assembly Area: The parade assembly area is on the Cleaveland/Woodsworth curve (see MAP). You can enter this area only from Gregory Lane traveling east. Because of street closures there will be no access from Contra Costa Blvd.

Starting at 7:00 a.m. portions of Gregory Lane, Woodsworth, Crescent Drive, Crescent Plaza and Boyd will be closed. Therefore, please refer to this map to find the route that works best for you (as well as any other vehicles that will be joining you). Remember, the only approach to the assembly area is from EASTBOUND GREGORY LANE.

Checking-In: One person from each entry must check in at the check-in station located at the corner of Gregory & Cleaveland. This is the entry to the assembly area. At the check-in station you will receive a number placard which must be attached to the front of your entry (first vehicle, front person, etc.) so that it can be seen by the parade officials and our announcer.

Assembly: After checking-in, you will be directed to the right or left side of the street, Please proceed slowly and watch for your place in line. Division signs will be posted and parade officials will be on hand to assist you. Click HERE for a map of the assembly area. You might find it helpful to print this map and bring along a copy when you come to the assembly area.

  • If you are driving a vehicle that will be in the parade, simply check in and proceed to your place in line.
  • If you are a driver for another passenger(s) in the parade, please check-in, go to your place in line, and wait for your passenger(s) to find you.
  • If you are dropping off people who are walking or riding in the parade, please do this outside the assembly area. There is NO EXIT from the assembly area until the parade is over.

The parade begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. from the corner of Contra Costa Blvd. and Woodsworth. Each division will be moved forward when it is their time to go.

Performance routines are welcomed all along the route, but must keep moving in a forward direction, keeping an even space between units. As your unit approaches the announcer stand on Crescent Drive, our announcer will read the script that you have provided.

Near the end, a parade official will collect your number placard and give you a certificate of participation.

When you reach the end at Boyd and Cleaveland, all riders in or on open vehicles will be required to get off and walk on the sidewalk. If you are returning to the park, be extra careful as this area is open to general traffic. Police will be present to assist in this area.

If you are leaving the area entirely, you may proceed westbound on Boyd or turn southbound onto Cleaveland.

Do not stop in or block the intersection.

Please note that any entry registered after June 21 will not be included in the parade program that is published and distributed prior to the parade. Also please note that June 30 is the final registration cutoff date. No entries can be accepted after that date.

Picnic: You are cordially invited to come to our annual PARTY IN THE PARK immediately after the parade for food, games, and entertainment. Activities at the park will include band concerts, games, contests, swimming, food, and plenty of old-fashion fun for kids and grown-ups alike.

The fireworks display will be at dusk (approximately 9:15 p.m.) at the College Park High School field. Food and beverages will be available for purcase.

Thank you for participating in this year's parade. Have a wonderful and safe fourth.

If you are not sure what kind of parade entry you want to have, or if you are looking for some ideas, just click on the image to the right to see some examples from previous parades. You can have a vehicle entry or a walking entry (or combination), your choice.

IMPORTANT: Please remember, there must be no throwing of candy or gifts from any vehicle in the parade. If you wish to hand out candy or gifts, arrange to have someone walk alongside your entry, at the curb, giving them away.

Now that we have reviewed the basic parade information lets proceed with registration of your entry.

First of all, there is a nominal fee for being in the parade. A few of the invited dignitaries and public safety agencies are exempt from this fee and are given an Exemption Code. Please indicate below (yes or no) whether the Parade Chairman provided you with an Exemption Code.

See you at the parade!

If you have any questions or concerns about these instructions, please do not hesitate to call me at 934-1873.
